Matti Hämäläinen is a Professor of Information Technology at the Software Business and Engineering Institute (SoberIT), Department of Computer Science and Engineering, AaltoUniversity. Matti has a PhD in Information Systems from the University of Texas at Austin. He also holds MSc in Computer & Information Science from the University of Pennsylvania and MSc in Electrical Engineering from the Helsinki University of Technology.
Matti’s current research focuses on enabling open and user driven innovation, in particular in the mobile and ubiquitous services. As industries are in transition there is need to understand how to complement the manufacturing/provider centric, closed, rigid and centrally controlled approaches with open, flexible, networked and distributed models. Involving and empowering people (consumers/customers/citizens) to become co-creators and “everyday innovators” will be critical for addressing the future business and societal challenges. Development of methods and tools for “Living Labs” is a particular area of interest to help experimentation and multidisciplinary research of services in real-life settings. The application areas include healthcare and wellbeing, social media based services, and utility services for urban and rural communities across the technology spectrum (from low to high end devices and networks). He works with partners in Europe, US, China and Africa for studying enablers for locally and situationally relevant but globally replicable, sustainable and scalable solutions. Matti is also involved in developing service design and engineering curriculum related to the theme of Service Science.

Mikko Heiskala received M.Sc. degree in Computer Science from Helsinki University of Technology in 2005. Currentry he works as education coordinator in Aalto Service Factory. He is also PhD student in ISSEG. Mikko has 10 years experience in complex modular products and last two 3-year projects in the field of service mass customization and configurable services. He has authored or co-authored over 15 papers in the field of services.

Junying Zhong has been working in Aalto University since 2008 as an researcher. Her interest areas include mobile payment and mobile financial services. From 2000 to 2008 she has been working as an Associate Professor at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics in China. She has also worked as a Director of Theory Research Office in China Payment System Research Center.
Kimmo Karhu, Researcher kimmo.karhu@aalto.fi
Kimmo Karhu’s research interests include digital business ecosystems and communities, and the ways in which these could be studied using mathematical modelling. He is also interested in open source approaches and computer law in general. Kimmo received M.Sc. degree in Computer Science from Helsinki University of Technology in 2002. Prior to joining the faculty, he worked in ICT industry for more than ten years in various positions, the latest as VP of Product Development in biotechnology company Medicel. He has published several papers for journals, international conferences, and as book chapters.

Elisabete Patricio Concalves received Master of Economy at Hanken School of Economics in 2011, Advanced Financial Information Systems program. She has international background with work experience in Portugal and in Norway. She worked for General Electrics in Norway as a Financial Section Controller for big to medium size Oil & Gas projects. Additionally, she has worked as a Project Controller in the Portuguese Innovation Agency for R&D projects and as an accountant for 2 years in different industries.
Her research goals are the role of Information Technology (IT) in business value creation and current IT Governance practices and frameworks for business and IT alignment. Other research interests are the legal aspects of service management, specially for cloud service level agreements. Her current activities are in a project under development in IT Governance and course assistance for Enterprise Information Systems and IT Governance.

Timo Itälä works at Aalto University, SoberIT as a researcher and teacher since 2008. He received his M.Sc. in Helsinki University Computer Science, 1978. Dynamic Business Frameworks for Networks in Healthcare and Wellbeing are the topics of his forthcoming PhD related to business models, business processes, SOA and healthcare organisations in Finland and internationally. One key area of research is Active Aging. He is also involved in close cooperation with universities and companies in China in this area.
He has been working on industries like healthcare, banking and finance, manufacturing, paper industry, insurance, telecommunications, transportation, retail and government. Timo has been teaching Enterprise Systems Architecture and Business Process Design.

Kari Hiekkanen has a strong industry background with almost 20 years of practical experience in R&D, management and Enterprise Information Systems. In the 1990′s he worked as an entrepreneur, CEO and managing director in a small IT consulting company. In 1998 he joined former Novo Group plc., presently part of Logica where he held several executive level positions in the fields of R&D, consulting and strategic technology management lncluding working as a country level CTO.
He joined ISSEG group as a project manager and researcher in 2008 and his current activities include research and teching in the fields of Enteprise Information Systems, Enterprise Architecture and IT Governance.
Janne J. Korhonen, Doctoral Student janne.korhonen at aalto.fi
Janne J. Korhonen is a researcher and doctoral student since 2007. He received his M.Sc. (Tech) degree in Computer Science at Helsinki University of Technology in 2003 and B.A. degree in Cognitive Science at University of Helsinki in April 2007. His research interests include, but are not at all limited to, information systems, management science, organizational research and developmental psychology. In his dissertation work, Korhonen has focused on organizational governance of different IT-related aspect systems (e.g. enterprise architecture, information security, data, business process management). He has also been lecturing at the Enterprise Systems Integration and Enterprise Systems Architecture courses.

Zhenyu Wu received his Bachelor degree of Automation from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT) in 2008. Now he is a Ph.D candidate in School of Information and Communication in BUPT. He started his joint doctoral program in SoberIT, Computer Science and Engineering Department in Aalto University since September 2011. His research interests include Web of Things, ubqiuitous and cloud computing, as well as ubiquitous service and applications.

Amandeep Dhir received his M.Sc.(Tech) degree in Mobile Computing and Security from Department of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Science, Aalto University in August 2011. His second M.Sc.(Engg) degree he received from Denmark Technical University(DTU) with majors in Digital media and Interaction design. Amandeep’s research interests include ICT for Development, User Experience, Human-Computer Interaction, Business Model Innovation and Emerging Markets in general.
