Technology Law Research Group

Research

In our research we want to know what the technological development means for the existing legal system. The research aims to be forward looking i.e. what kind of changes are needed with the technological development. We also use our results to affect the Finnish information society policy.

Technology Law Group performs research related to various aspects of intellectual property rights (copyright, patents, design right etc), privacy, competition law and consumer protection in internet environment. Our research projects are carried out in close cooperation with our academic partner from Finland and abroad. We have also close ties to the law firms in Helsinki – still, most of our projects are funded by the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation (e.g. currently OSSLI).

We are also carrying research regarding software tools, which aim help solving legal prolems (e.g. Open Source License Checker and A-HIP)

Our group is also leading the Technology Law teaching in Finland.
