Playroom

Room A120 at the Computer Science building in Otaniemi is called “Playroom”. It is a place for computer science students and personnel of Aalto university to meet, collaborate and have fun. The room can be used for work room of teaching personnel, learning of technical devices and gadgets, laboratory course work, software development, research experiments, team work and brainstorming of new ideas. The room includes comfortable sofas and a large flat screen for demos, meetings, movie nights, sport events and game tournaments.

The room can be used by students, course assistants, summer trainees, researchers and other personnel of the department of computer science. To access the room, you need to obtain a magnetic key card from Facility Management and Security at TKK and ask for additional access rights for the room (*).

The room includes desks for ten people, personal lockers for 12 people and a number of borrowable gadgets (**) in two locked cabinets. The room also includes a small number of PCs for running small experiments. All of these can be reserved using an on-line reservation system. The room includes also server rack for installing switches, routers and servers.

Goals

  • reorganize the lab room and make it a comfortable workspace
  • provide facilities and hardware for students and researchers
  • make people enjoy. :)
